Elevyn-UNHCR

Today is day 1 teaching and working with a group of refugees under the Elevyn-UNHCR program.
The centre is located right at the top floor and we had to climb a few flight of stairs (feels like more than few) and since the lights were broken....we climbed in almost total darkness.
Once we reached the top most floor, we can hear children laughing and singing in a language that is foreign to us. We were greeted by whom we later knew as Habu and he was kind enough to show us into the room where the workshop will be held.

Later, i had the pleasure to meet and get to know Ling yau, sui sui, esther, tang li, lili and mary. After the getting to know session the ladies were excited to begin. Language was no barrier even though only two can speak some english and another some malay. The rest had to rely on their friends to translate.
We began straightaway and they were fast learners!
One mama even had her baby slung on to her  body wrapped in a long  cloth throughout class. Another had her baby crawling all over :)
AND yet they all manage to get crafting and did one bracelet and a ring in less than 2 1/2 hours! amazing huh? :)

I am not going to say anything else further other than that it was a very humbling experience :)
